Rev. John B. McKissack III & Tammy McKissack

Rev. John B. McKissack and his wife Tammy share a testimony marked by the transforming grace of Jesus Christ and a deep passion for ministry. Both born-again and set on fire for the Lord, their lives were forever changed in the early 1990s—first John, and then six months later Tammy. Those months between their conversions not only strengthened their marriage but ignited a shared calling that has shaped their entire ministry journey.

Soon after coming to faith, God led them to the foreign mission field. In the Dominican Republic, John and Tammy established a Bible school for children and witnessed many young lives come to know Jesus. Their ministry then extended into Mexico, where they partnered with dentists to offer care to the poor in Hermosillo and Monterrey. During those years they helped build churches, supported local pastors, and—true to their hearts—poured themselves into children’s ministry, sharing the Gospel with joy, creativity, and compassion.

For the past decade, Rev. John has served as a “tentmaker” pastor in the spirit of the apostle Paul, working full-time in the engineering field while shepherding rural congregations that could not afford full-time clergy. At times he pastored as many as three churches simultaneously. Throughout those years Tammy faithfully served alongside him as a traditional Methodist pastor’s spouse—building strong women’s ministries, organizing Bible studies, and creating fellowship opportunities. One of Tammy’s most memorable achievements was leading a tiny congregation of only a handful of women to host the Southeast Texas Ladies Conference, complete with speakers, food, worship, and even a professional Christian comedian—drawing women together across multiple denominations.

Today, Pastor John and Tammy serve together as a ministry team at First Methodist Church of Winnsboro in the Global Methodist Church. Rev. John is an ordained Elder in the GMC, and Tammy is a Certified Lay Minister with a powerful calling to women’s ministry. Both firmly believe that God has miraculously and purposefully placed them in Winnsboro for this season.

Their hearts are full of gratitude for this calling, and their greatest desire is simple: to love, help, and serve God’s people with humility, joy, and the fire of the Holy Spirit. Together, Pastor John and Tammy look forward to walking alongside the church family, strengthening the ministries of the church, and pointing every heart to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Our Associate Pastor
Rev. Fran Guy
Rev. Fran Guy – Associate Pastor

Rev. Fran Guy is a lifelong resident of Franklin Parish and makes her home in Winnsboro. While faithfully serving 32 years with NELPCO, she answered God’s call to ministry, becoming a Licensed Local Pastor in June 1999 in the United Methodist Church and later being ordained as an Elder in June 2023 in the Global Methodist Church.

Throughout her years of ministry, Rev. Fran has shepherded congregations with a quiet strength and a deeply compassionate heart. She served the Baskin Methodist/Presbyterian Church, Wisner United Methodist Church, and later the combined Wisner–Gilbert United Methodist Churches. In June 2017 she was appointed Associate Pastor to First Methodist Church of Winnsboro, where she served as Minister of Visitation—a role that perfectly matched her God-given calling to care for people. In March 2023 she stepped in as interim pastor, and later that December was appointed lead pastor, before returning to her beloved ministry as Associate Pastor.

Rev. Fran is known throughout the church and community for her gentle spirit, steady presence, and servant’s heart. She has a special passion for elder care and pastoral visitation. Whether she is praying at a bedside, sitting with a lonely heart, driving someone to a doctor’s appointment, or encouraging the homebound, Fran shares the tender love of Jesus with every person she meets. Her ministry is not built on titles, but on compassion—on simply showing up, listening, and loving people well.

She is blessed with one daughter, Angie Guthrie; one son, Gerald Trahan; and one grandson, Tyler Guthrie. Fran often says her greatest joy in ministry is “just being there for people.” And that is exactly who she is—a humble, devoted servant of Christ whose life is a living testimony of His grace, kindness, and love.
